Ko Smith

  • The underlying interest of Smith’s work focuses on the formation of personal perspective, which, through its constant remaking, retreats from view and becomes reified as social reality and cultural and personal narratives. In essence, it is a practice of “Looking for the Lens.”

  • Ko Smith has been an exhibiting Artist since 2003, his first solo show held in a small cafe in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2007. His work has been exhibited in numerous venues including Spazio TID, Milan Italy; Six Month Space, New York City; Con Artist Collective, New York City; Create Collective, Miami Florida; and the Kentler International Drawing Space, Brooklyn, NY. He has received grants, residencies and awards including an artist grant and residency from Vermont Studio Center, and Chateau Orquevaux in France, as well as an Arches printmaking award.

    Smith earned his B.F.A. from The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University with a concentration in Studio Art in 2006. He is based in Brooklyn, NY and currently lives in Stockholm, Sweden.
